Color
and contrast drove the design of this stylish Upper East Side apartment.
Intended for an art loving couple, the project makes a bold statement to
fit their philosophy and life style. Deep red colored walls stimulate and
dominate the entry gallery and provide accent in an otherwise all wood
kitchen. The contemporary kitchen cabinets and backsplash are fabricated
in birch wood veneer while floor and base cabinets are in dark walnut.
Solid zebra-wood countertop shines in natural combination of the two
contrasting wood colors for a unifying effect. Bathroom is finished in
mysterious dark taupe-brown porcelain tiles arranged in geometrical
patterns using mixed size tiles. In lieu of standard doors,
custom-fabricated sliding doors enclose closet and storage rooms enabling
frosted Lumasite to glow.
